Domer Trade, specializes in re-purposing intermodal shipping containers into storage containers, offices, homes, shelters, and other functional spaces for a variety of applications. There is growing worldwide interest in re-using and recycling shipping containers, of which there are over 15 million decommissioned across the globe. And as thousands more are produced daily and trade imbalances persist, that number continues to grow and become a significant environmental issue. Very few alternative options exist aside from repurposing containers into shelters, homes and other spaces, a social and architectural trend that is gaining traction worldwide. Containers are becoming a common, if not essential, component of environmentally-conscious architecture as well as pro-active approaches to disaster relief. This “containitecture” creation is rapidly evolving to become one of the more useful alternative building methods, bolstered by containers’ inherent stability, relative affordability, and ease of transport. Domer Trade leverages these trends, as well as its relationships with a network of shipping partners, to source, convert, and sell containers to the individuals, and other businesses, for use as disaster relief housing, mobile and modular offices, portable buildings, stackable offices, and even self-sustaining homes. Conversion kits are used for standard re-purposing, and staff work with clients to provide customized designs as well.
Intermodal shipping containers are designed and built of durable steel, to store and ship freight around the world via different modes of transport, including train, ship, and truck. They are stackable and sizes are standardized across countries (typically 20 or 40 feet in length), allowing for efficient, secure, and affordable shipping across the globe. >
The Company manages every part of the process, including procurement of the containers, design consultation and finalization, refurbishment management and oversight, installations, transportation and delivery of the finished product to the clients’ specified location. This end-to-end customer service is an effective and streamlined approach and takes the burden of navigating the incredibly complex shipping industry off of the client. Cost and timelines vary, depending on the complexity of design, materials and shipment logistics required.
